Plumbing Services for Grand Rapids Homes and Storefronts
Auburn Hills Plumbing repairs, replaces and installs the plumbing in older single-family houses, townhomes, small rental buildings and storefronts. Most calls fall under one of four kinds of work, and each has a page of its own with the signs to look for, what you can try first and what a visit involves.
How to Choose the Right Service
Start with where the trouble shows. Water that will not go down a drain is drain work, even when the cause turns out to be a pipe. Water where it should not be, on a ceiling, under a sink or around the base of a wall, is a leak, and the first step is to shut the water off while you wait. No hot water, or water that runs warm for a few minutes and then cold, points to the water heater. A toilet that runs, a faucet that drips or a disposal that jams is fixture work.
Some problems cross the lines. A toilet that gurgles when the washer drains is usually a drain problem further down the house, not a toilet problem. A water heater that leaks from a fitting on top may need a pipe repair rather than a new tank. If you are not sure, describe what you see when you book, and the visit starts with finding the cause before any repair is agreed. Short answers to the questions customers ask most are on the questions page.

| Service | Best for | Typical problems | Page link |
|---|---|---|---|
| Drain Cleaning | Slow sinks, tubs and floor drains; backups that reach more than one fixture | Grease in kitchen lines, hair in bath drains, roots in older sewer lines, sump pumps that run nonstop | Drain cleaning |
| Water Heaters | No hot water, short showers, a tank that leaks or rumbles | Worn burners or elements, sediment in the tank, a rusted-through bottom, a relief valve that drips | Water heaters |
| Pipe and Leak Repair | Wet ceilings, damp cabinet floors, frozen or burst lines, low pressure | Corroded galvanized supply pipe, cracked cast iron, pinhole leaks, shutoff valves that no longer turn | Pipe and leak repair |
| Fixture Repair | Toilets, faucets, showerheads, garbage disposals and new fixture installs | Running toilets, dripping faucets, worn flappers and cartridges, a disposal that hums but will not turn | Fixture repair |
Not Sure What Is Wrong?
A slow or stopped drain is the most common call we get, and a few simple questions narrow it down quickly: which fixture, whether others in the house are slow too, and whether it gurgles or backs up when something else drains. The clogged drain troubleshooter walks through those questions and shows the likely causes and the next step for each.
What Older Grand Rapids Houses Add to the Job
Many houses in Grand Rapids, Wyoming, Kentwood and Walker still have some of their original galvanized steel supply pipe and cast iron drain lines. Galvanized pipe narrows with rust from the inside, so low pressure at one faucet can be the first sign of a supply line near the end of its life. Cast iron drains crack and scale, and in older sewer lines tree roots find their way in at the joints. That is why a drain call in an older house often ends with a camera look at the line, and a leak repair sometimes turns into a conversation about replacing a longer run of pipe.
Other Work We Do
Alongside the four main services, we install sump pumps, swap out garbage disposals, put in new fixtures for kitchen and bathroom updates and repipe whole houses with new supply lines. A repipe or a new fixture install is planned with a written estimate before the work begins, so you know what is included before you approve it.
Guides and Questions
For planning ahead rather than fixing something today, the plumbing guides cover winter care for pipes and spigots and how to choose a new water heater. When you are ready to have something fixed, book service online or call the office.
